He served on the front lines of human intelligence operations, including a 2014 deployment to Afghanistan in support of U.S. military operations.

In the private sector, he has advised global firms such as McKinsey & Company and Deutsche Bank on geopolitical risk.

Badger is the co-author of the book 'The Great Heist: China's Epic Campaign to Steal America's Secrets' with David R. Shedd, exposing China's state-orchestrated espionage campaign to steal Western technology and intellectual property, published by HarperCollins in December 2025.[3][4][5]
