Glenn Allen Youngkin was born on December 27, 1966, in Richmond, Virginia. He earned his bachelor's degree in commerce from Washington and Lee University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. Youngkin built a distinguished career in private equity, serving as co-CEO of The Carlyle Group for several years, where he managed significant investment portfolios and business operations.
In 2021, he successfully campaigned for Governor of Virginia on a Republican platform, winning the general election.
